Bluesy Orange Tree by mpn
Gouache on watercolour paper
based on martin’s post yesterday and on the article i mentioned in my first posting of this week, i decided to explore this primary-complementary colour scheme idea… so i had an idea for the procedure but not what i was actually going to paint. that idea hit me this morning around 5 a.m. as i was turning in bed to go back to sleep .. a tree. of course! so instead of going to sleep, i got up and made a rough sketch.. and started on the background – full well knowing by now that i WOULD go back to sleep “yawn” – giving the background time to dry. i used two colours in the painting – Cobalt Blue and Orange, both liquid gouache. the original colours can be seen in the tree trunk and the leaves. the rest is mixed with white and black. thanks martin, for giving me this idea – i hope you like my “reply” … :)=
